DU student rape case: Court sets Jan 28 for probe report submission

A Dhaka court on Tuesday has set January 28 for probe report submission in the Dhaka University student rape case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara passed the order taking the first information report into cognizance.

"The court also granted the DNA test prayer," said Cantonment Police Station's General Recording Officer Afsana Begum.

No one has been arrested yet, the GRO said.

A second-year student of the Dhaka University was raped in the capital's Kurmitola area on Sunday.

A second-year student of Dhaka University was picked up by an unidentified man after she got down from a bus in Kurmitola area on Sunday evening. The man took her to a secret place and allegedly raped and tortured her.

The victim's father filed a case with Cantonment Police Station on Monday.

In the meantime, doctors also found evidences of rape on her body.

"We have found injury marks on her hands, legs and neck. It will take few days to confirm whether she was gang raped or not," said Sohel Mahmud, the head of Forensic Medicine Department of DMCH.

DMCH Director Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin said a medical board has been formed for her treatment and counselling as she is traumatised.

"We are doing everything for her complete recovery," he added.
