Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman has sought bail from the High Court on Sunday in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan said the bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman may hear the petition on Monday.

ACC Director Monzur Morshed filed the case against Mizan, his wife Sohelia Anar Ratna, nephew Sub-Inspector Mahmudul Hasan and younger brother Mahabubur Rahman on June 24.

On May 3 last year, the ACC interrogated the DIG in connection with accumulation of illegal wealth.

DIG Mizan, former additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, was withdrawn on January 9 last year after being accused of threatening a female news presenter of a private television channel.

He was suspended on June 25 this year.

Last week, the ACC ordered its director Enamul Basir and Mizan to appear before it on July 1 for interrogation. Mizan allegedly bribed Basir.
