Dengue: Sample of new medicine arrives today

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has informed the High Court that a special flight will arrive in Dhaka on Thursday carrying a sample of a new medicine to eradicate Aedes mosquitoes.

DSCC lawyer Advocate Sayed Ahmed Raja placed the information before the HC bench comprising of Justice Tariq-ul-Hakim and Justice Md Shohrowardi.

Deputy Attorney General Kazi Mainul Hasan, Assistant Attorney General Saira Fairoz and DNCC lawyer Barrister Taufiq Inam Tipu were present at that time.

Sample testing will be done at a laboratory in Mohakhali on the effectiveness of the medicine, the city corporation lawyer told the court .

Earlier on July 25, the HC asked the chief health officers of the city corporations to import effective insecticides by July 30 to stop the spread of Aedes mosquitoes, which carries the virus of the deadly dengue fever.
