The members of Rapid Action Battalion detained Rafiqul Islam Madani from Netrokona on 8 April

A Gazipur court has placed so-called child preacher Rafiqul Islam Madani on a two-day remand in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Md Ismail Hossain, officer-in-charge of Gacha Police Station, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard today.

He said a petition was filed with the court on Tuesday seeking a seven-day remand against Madani. The court later granted two days after the hearing.

The police officer further said that forensic specialists found objectionable adult content in his mobile phone. Following the findings, a section of the Pornography Act was added with the previous lawsuit filed under the Digital Security Act.

The Rapid Action Battalion filed the first case under DSA after detaining him from Netrokona on 8 April. They seized four mobile phones from his possession at that time. Since then Madani has been kept in Kashimpur jail. Later, another case was filed against him with Bason police station under the same law.
