A Dhaka court has fixed August 23 for the hearing on framing charges against Shamima Nur Papia, the expelled leader of Jubo Mohila League, and her husband Mofizur Rahman in an arms case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes on Tuesday set the date August 23 for the charge framing hearing.

On June 29, the investigating officer of the case and RAB-1 sub-inspector (SI) Mohammad Arifuzzaman submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court, Dhaka.

RAB-1 arrested Papia and her husband, along with two of her accomplices, from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, while trying to flee the country on February 22.

Seven passports, two debit cards, $11,481, Tk2.12 lakh, fake notes of Tk25,600 and some currencies of Sri Lanka and India were seized from them at the time of their arrest.

Later, a foreign pistol, two magazines, 20 bullets, five bottles of foreign liquor, Tk58.41 lakh and payment cards of various banks were recovered during the raid at Papia's apartment in Farmgate.

Three cases were filed against them- two with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station under the Arms and Special Powers Act, while another was with the Biman Bandar Police Station under the Special Powers Act- 1974.
