A Chattogram court has granted a one-day remand to Ismail Bali, a BNP councilor candidate, in the case of vandalising an Electronic Voting Machine) (EVM) during voting of ChattogramCity Corporation polls.

Chattogram Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohiuddin Murad passed the order on Thursday.

Earlier, on Thursday noon Patharghata Girls High School Assistant Presiding Officer, Shahjahan filed the case as a plaintiff where Ismail Bali has been named as the main accused in the case. 

Besides, 40 to 50 unidentified persons have been accused in the case.

Chattogram City Police Assistant Commissioner (Prosecution) Kazi Sahab Uddin Ahmed confirming the matter and said that police had applied for a 10-day remand for questioning Ismail Bali, in EVM vandalism. However, court later granted a one-day remand.

Two were killed and some 30 people injured in the violence in different parts of the city.
