BNP leader Aslam Chowdhury gets HC bail
Court
The High Court has granted bail to BNP leader Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury in two sabotage cases filed against him in the capital's Kotwali and Shahbag Police Stations.
A virtual bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim and Justice Mohi Uddin Shamim passed the order on Sunday.
Aslam Chowdhury's lawyer Hasibur Rahman said there is no legal bar for Aslam Chowdhury to get released from the jail as he secured bail in other cases filed against him.
Earlier on 15 May 2016, BNP's joint secretary general Aslam Chowdhury was arrested from the Khilkhet area of Dhaka for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy with Mossad, the national intelligence agency of Israel, to overthrow the Bangladesh government.
The BNP leader was then shown arrested in two sedition cases. He later was accused in other cases including sabotage and cheque fraud. He secured bail in all the cases filed against him.
