In a maiden virtual court order forgery incident, HC cancels bail for the accused and orders them to surrender

The High Court (HC) on Wednesday scrapped bail for five murder accused who forged court orders to walk out of prison, and asked them to surrender within a week.

The court also ordered police to arrest them if they do otherwise. Besides, the HC issued a show-cause notice asking why action shall not be taken against the defence lawyer Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal.

The accused Lutfor, Sohag, Selim, Jewel and Abdullah forged the virtual court order on May 18 to manage bail. Their lawyer has been suspended from conducting any legal proceedings at any virtual court.

The virtual court of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim passed the order on Wednesday after being notified of the forgery.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Dr Mohammad Bashir Ullah represented the state.

The Attorney General told the press that the victim's family informed his office as the accused managed to walk out of prison after forging an HC order. The attorney general's office looked into the matter and found the information to be true.

Subsequently, the office brought the matter before court.

The five accused allegedly murdered a person named Tipu Sheikh in Khulna in 2019 over pervious rivalry. The victim's father Alamgir Sheikh subsequently filed the murder case at the local police station on September 8, 2019 accusing 32 people.
