Appellate Division leads campaign against corruption in Supreme Court

The Appellate Division has led an operation against 43 officials and employees of the affidavit branch of the Supreme Court on charges of corruption and irregularities.

Senior Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Mohammad Iman Ali led the operation on Sunday afternoon. 

According to the Supreme Court administration sources, the employees and officials were verbally warned and released after an hour of detainment.

Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajal, secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association, came to calm the situation when the affidavit branch officials and employees protested during the operation.

Recently, the bar association informed the chief justice about various irregularities and corruption in the Supreme Court. According to the Supreme Court administration sources, the operation was carried out in this regard.

"The operation was carried out at the Supreme Court's administrative building no 2," said Mohammad Mashiur Rahman, a member of the executive committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association.

"When the bar association leaders were informed of the arrest of 43 people, we went to the spot along with the association's secretary. It was later learned that the detainees had been detained for engaging in other activities without performing their duties in their respective branches," he further added.
