4 HC benches to remain open virtually during lockdown
Besides, only the magistrate court will remain open among the lower courts
The Supreme Court (SC) has decided not to hold regular in-person court proceedings during the week-long lockdown, which will be imposed from Monday to curb the further spread of Covid-19.
"Four virtual benches of High Court and one Chamber Judge's court will be operational during the time," SC spokesperson Barrister Saifur Rahman told media after a full court meeting led by Chief Justice tonight.
Besides, only the magistrate court will remain open among the lower courts.
Considering the recent rise in Covid-19 infections and deaths in the country, the government has imposed 7-day lockdown from 5 April 6am to 11 April midnight.
