10 get life term for murder in Khulna

A court here on Tuesday sentenced 10 people to life term imprisonment in a case over the murder of a trader at Poddobila village in Digholia upazila in the district.

M Saifuzzaman Hiro, Judge of Public Safety Disturbance Crime Prevention Tribunal of Khulna, pronounced the verdict.

The lifers are –Abul Kashem, Kurbat Munshi, Faruk Molla, Manjurul Shikder, M Iran, Abu Taleb, Humayun Khan and Kabir Mollaof Poddobila village Digholia upazila, and Abdul Gaffar and Khalilur Rahman of Debhata upazila of Satkhira.

The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each.

According to the prosecution, police recovered the throat- slit body of local trader Altu Molla from Poddobila ground in Digholia upazila on December 17, 2006.

Alamgir Hossain Molla, nephew of the victim, lodged a case with Digholia police station against some unidentified people.

After long investigation, IO of the case and SI of Digholia police station Fazlul Kabir submitted charge-sheet before the court accusing 12 people on May 26 in 2008.

Two other accused- Habib and Mithun-were acquitted as charges against them could not be proved.
