All the Dhaka-centric development projects should be coordinated with the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) by October 1 to avoid repetition of the same activities by the other agencies.

If any agency fails to coordinate within the deadline, it will have to wait until the next October to implement their development projects, said DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh.

He was addressing a meeting organised by the Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Ministry at a hotel in the capital on Thursday.

The meeting was held to identify limitations in the construction of a modern and public-friendly metropolitan and formulate a time-bound action plan.

The mayor said, "The agencies can continue their development projects after the coordination. But you cannot cut a single road for three times in one place. With the permission of the city corporation, you can cut a place only once."

He continued, "I will not entertain any advocacy for the implementation of your development projects without coordination by October 1. Even if the project is funded by the World Bank, ADB, GoB or any other organisation, it will not be allowed for implementation without coordination."

Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Md Tazul Islam said, "The country is like an umbrella. There are different agencies like city corporations, municipalities, RAJUKs, and other ministries, among others."

The corporation says to hand over the canal and drainage system to them. I have to hand over in a way that the city corporation can continue its work, he said.

Mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Mohammad Zahangir Alam, Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Md Atiqul Islam, Helal Uddin Ahmed, senior secretary of the ministry also spoke at the event.
