The Ministry of Water Resources has set up a control room to monitor and disseminate information about cyclone Yaas.

An office order was issued in this regard signed by the ministry's Deputy Secretary SM Sarwar Kamal on Sunday.

Earlier, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) asked the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to hoist distant cautionary signal number-1.
A BMD bulletin also stated that the current low pressure in the Bay of Bengal was most likely to transform into a cyclonic storm.
It is likely to make landfall in between north Odisha and Bangladesh coast on 26 May.
