A contractor fined Tk1 lakh in Chattogram
Environment department found the contractor firm guilty of not following environmental regulations during construction work
The Department of Environment has fined a contractor firm working for the Chattogram City Corporation Tk1 lakh for not following environmental regulations.
The firm named T & EB did not maintain any environmental regulations, which resulted in dust pollution from Chandgaon residential area to Kalurghat area of the port city, according to a press release from the department.
After inspecting the area, the environment department served a notice to the contractor for a hearing.

After the hearing at the department office on December 19 (Thursday), director of the environment (Chattogram metropolitan area) Azadur Rahman Mallick fined T & EB Tk1 lakh.
In addition to the fine, the contractor was asked to spray water in the affected areas at least thrice a day and finish the project soon.
The contractor firm was in charge of construction for the development of Arakan Road.
