State Minister for Shipping Ministry Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Friday said communal attacks are being carried out in Sylhet and other parts of the country to prevent the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"A vested quarter is conspiring and inciting communal violence to prevent the Indian Prime Minister from visiting Bangladesh. This group is also conspiring about our patriotic army so that they fail to provide security to the country," he said.
He was speaking at a discussion titled 'Bangabandhu and Independence' arranged by the Dhaka Sub-Editors' Council at the National Press Club.
The state minister claimed that the conspiracy started with the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family in 1975.
"The conspirators have conspired against the Padma Bridge, the government's nuclear power generation, and the success of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in tackling the Covid-19 outbreak," he added.
Also present on the occasion were Antu Karim, managing director of Pentagon International Ltd, Abdul Momen Milton, faculty of Department of Fine Arts, Dhaka University, Mamun Faraji, president of Dhaka Sub-Editors' Council and its secretary Abdul Hasan Hridoy.
