College student’s body recovered from Sangu River

Swimming, Farhan drowned in deep water and went missing

The floating body of a college student who went missing while swimming with friends in the Sangu River was recovered on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Farhan, 19, a class-XI student of Hazera-Taju University College in Chattogram city and son of Mohammad Jamal Khan of Bahaddarhat in the port city.

Fire Service sources said Farhan and two friends went to their friend Tuhin's home in Moishamura of Satkania upazila, Chattogram, on Wednesday. The four went to the Sangu River to take a swim on Thursday noon. Farhan drowned in the deep water and went missing.

On information, fire service divers reached the spot but could not rescue Farhan despite search effort of about two and a half hours.

Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Assistant Director Farid Ahmed said, noticing a body floating in the Sangu river on Friday morning, locals informed the fire service. The fire service then went to the spot and recovered Farhan's body.

The dead body will be handed over to family members, he added.
