Police have recovered the body of Mariam Khatun, a 22-year-old college student, from a beel (wetland) in Satkhira's Shyamnagar on Friday morning (January 10).

Mariam's father Abdul Kader said she had been missing for three days.

"We had filed a general diary with Shyamnagar Police Station regarding the incident," he added.

Officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station Nazmul Huda said, "We recovered the body based on information provided by the local people. We found her with a scarf wrapped around her neck. We were not able to confirm whether she was raped before being murdered."

The police are investigating the matter, he added.
