CMH recommended for Independence Award

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Defence made the recommendation at a meeting on Thursday

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Defence has recommended the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for Independence Award for its outstanding contribution in healthcare including providing medical services to Covid-19 patients with enormous courage and efficiency.

The committee made the recommendation at its 13th meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Thursday with its chairman Mohammad Shubid Ali Bhuiyan in the chair.

Committee members Muhammad Faruk Khan, Ilias Uddin Mollah, Motahar Hossain, Nasir Uddin, Mahibbur Rahman and Nahid Izahar Khan also participated in the meeting.

The meeting also recommended the recruitment of necessary manpower, infrastructure development and technological development to turn the Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organisation (Sparrso) into a state of the art institution in the light of 2041 announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The committee also recommended handing over 6 acres of land belonging to the Atomic Energy Research Establishment at Savar in Dhaka to Sparrso.

Senior secretary of the defence ministry, the chief of the Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force and senior officials of various forces, ministries and the Parliament Secretariat also attended the meeting.
