Child dies of dengue in Rangpur

A child has died of dengue at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on early Thursday.

The deceased, Manisha Akter, 12, daughter of Makbul Hossain, hailed from Bochaganj upazila of Dinajpur.

“Manisha was transferred to RMCH from M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital, Dinajpur with dengue. She died around 3.15 am on Thursday,” said Dr EKM Shaheduzzaman Ribel, assistant professor of Medicine Department of RMCH.

So far, three people had died of dengue in RMCH after the recent outbreak.

This is the fourth dengue-related death in the hospital after the recent outbreak.

Earlier, on August 6 a minor named Riana, 3, resident of Gaibandha’sPalashbari and on August 11 Monirul Islam, 32, a cloth trader from Lalmonirhat died here suffering from Dengue.

On August 27 a young man named Mahtab, 24, died of dengue in the hospital.
