Child dies in Gazipur colony fire

A fire broke out today early morning at a colony of Gazipur District which resulted in death of a one-year-old child.

Gazipur Fire Service Deputy Director Abdul Hamid said the fire broke out at around 7:30 am in Kaliakair upazila's Telichala area which spread really quickly and burned down 18 rooms.

"At that time, a child was locked in a room and died in the fire as it was not possible to get him out. The child's mother had locked him in the house and went to the next house," said Hamid.

The body of the child was recovered and handed over to the police. 

Upon information, three units of the fire service reached the spot and brought the fire under control in an hour and a half effort. 

The reason and estimated loss caused by fire could not be known immediately.
