Following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s direction, the ruling party men voluntarily helped the farmers with their harvest

The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Tuesday assisted Tangail farmers in cutting paddy.

More than 50 leaders and activists of the ruling party's student wing joined hands with farmers in Tangail Sadar upazila's Gharinda, Borolia and Suruj villages to cut the ripen Irri paddy. Later they took the harvest to the farmers' home.

Tangail city Chhatra League President Mir Wasedul Huque and General Secretary Kaiser Hasan led the group in reaping the paddy.

Wasedul said, "The government has enforced lockdown in different districts of the country including Tangail to contain the transmission of Covid-19. It has led to a labour crisis for harvesting crop."

"And Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the BCL leaders to voluntarily help farmers harvest paddy. So, we assisted them in cutting and collecting paddy."
