Chattogram customs impound 13 tonnes of date expired ‘Fuchka’

Chattogram Customs today inspected a consignment of 13 tonnes of date expired raw Fuchka (Ready to fry pani puri) imported from India.
Deputy commissioner of the audit, investigation and research section of Chattogram Customs, Nur Uddin Milon, said, "The product imported from India expired 24 days back. As per the import policy, we cannot release date expired goods."
The raw Fuchka was manufactured on December 27, 2018 by "Snareat" brand, a company in India, and expired on September 26, 2019. The consignment value was USD 5,180.
A Malaysian supplier named Faajv Construction Son BHD exported the consignment from India, said the clearing and forwarding agent.
Comilla Shipping Agency, a clearing and forwarding (C&F) agent submitted documents on behalf of the importer to release the goods.
Assistant revenue officer of Chattogram Custom House Rasel Mahmdud Jewel said, "As per the law, all the products will be seized. We will issue a show-cause letter to the importer.
"Punitive measures will be taken for importing date expired food."
