A Dhaka court on Tuesday set February 4 to hold charge-framing hearing on the Niko graft case against BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia after the state appealed to defer the date.

Khaleda Zia's lawyer Advocate Taherul Islam Touhid said, "Begum Khaleda Zia is admitted at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and cannot come to the court. So the state appealed for more time for the hearing."

Special Tribunal Court Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman accepted the petition and set February 4 for the charge-framing hearing.

On December 9, 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission had filed the case accusing the former prime minister and ten others of misusing power to grant a gas deal to Canadian company Niko.
