CEC satisfied over Bogura by-polls atmosphere

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has expressed satisfaction over the Bogura by-polls atmosphere and urged all to abide by the electoral code of conduct. .
Terming the code of conduct the most important part of an election, the CEC said the candidates, supporters and voters have to follow it.
Nurul Huda came up with the call while addressing a meeting at Bogura deputy commissioner’s office on Wednesday ahead of the election slated for June 24.
He claimed that the fifth phase of the Upazila Parishad election, which ended Tuesday, was peaceful.
Among others, Election Commission Secretary Md Alamgir, Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi Md Nur-Ur-Rahman and law enforcement high-ups joined the meeting.
The CEC was scheduled for another two meetings with the presiding officers and the candidates. At the meeting with the presiding officers, he will discuss electronic voting machine (EVM).
On April 30, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury declared the Bogura-6 constituency vacant as BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir did not take oath as MP, nor sought time before the deadline expiration.
A total of five candidates are contesting in the constituency.
