Casino kingpin Samrat put on 20-day remand

A Dhaka court placed casino kingpin Ismail Chowdhury Samrat on 20-day remand in two cases for money laundering and illegal trading of drugs and alcohol.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury granted the remand.

The Rapid Action Battalion arrested Samrat, the expelled president of Dhaka City South Jubo League, from Cumilla's Chauddagram area on October 6.

The Jubo League leader has been making headlines on his alleged involvement in the casino business in Dhaka since the government launched raids on gambling establishments.
