Cancellation of ‘illegally allocated’ Uttara 3rd phase plots demanded
The protesters are those whose lands were acquired by the government during the implementation of Rajuk’s extended Uttara 3rd phase project
A group of people affected by Rajuk's extended Uttara 3rd phase project demanded that the plots illegally allocated during the Awami League government should be cancelled immediately and reallocated to them.
They said this during a human chain organised under the banner of the Uttara 3rd Phase Project Affected Welfare Association in front of Rajuk's Uttara zonal office in Dhaka today (23 January).
During the protest programme, the association's General Secretary Md Jamal Uddin Bhuiyan said, "Those who applied for plots in 2001 by depositing Tk50,000 must be allotted plots. For the past 20 years, we have been moving from one Rajuk office to another for plots, but the AL government repeatedly claimed that there weren't enough plots to allocate. However, we now see how the plots were plundered. We, the affected people, demand the recovered plots."

Their other demands include that each family member should be allocated a plot, husband and wife should be given separate plots on separate applications, and those who could not apply for plots on time due to various legal complications should be allowed to apply now.
The protesters are those whose lands were acquired by the government during the implementation of Rajuk's extended Uttara 3rd phase project.
Another demonstrator, Chan Mia Bepari said, "Despite the Ministry of Housing and Public Works having provisions for allocating plots at lower prices for affected people at Purbachal and Chandrima housing projects, the same price has been set for plots of the affected and other applicants in the Uttara 3rd phase project. Therefore, it should be prioritised to allocate plots for the affected people of the 3rd phase."
The participants at the human chain said that the current government has taken initiatives to create nearly 4,000 residential plots with all modern amenities for the affected people of the Padma Bridge construction project, and they are also making arrangements for the rehabilitation of those affected by the Hatirjheel project.
They said that Rajuk engaged in business worth hundreds of crores of taka by giving plots to the beneficiaries on the land of the affected people, but the affected did not receive any plots.
They further said that if there is no announcement for allocating plots to the affected people, they would stop the project work and they would launch a tougher movement.
