Businessman, 5 Power Division engineers sued for ‘misappropriating Tk 3 crore’

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against five engineers of Power Division and a businessman on charges of misappropriating around Tk 3 crore in the name of procuring electric motor of 150-megawatt peaking power plant at Shikalbaha in Patiya of Chattogram.

ACC's Assistant Director Mamunur Rashid filed the case with its Integrated District Office Chattogram on Tuesday.

The accused people are- Power Tech International owner Abdul Alim, Chief Engineer Bhuban Bijoy Dutta of the power plant, Power Development Board (PDB) Additional Chief Engineers Abu Yusuf and Tofazzal Hossain, Executive Engineer Mizanur Rahman Sarkar, and PDB's Nesco Ltd Chief Engineer AH Kamal.

According to the case statement, the accused in collaboration with each other misappropriated the money through forgery and fraudulence between 2018 and 2019 in the name of procuring two electric motors for the power plant.
