Brahmanbaria rail accident: District administration probe body needs more time

A probe committee formed by Brahmanbaria district administration cannot submit their investigation report on the deadly train accident at Mondobagh Railway Station in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria on Sunday.
The probe report remained incomplete as the body could not take statements of the Mondobagh Railway Station Master Jaker Hossain Chowdhury and Turna Nishita Loco Master Taser Uddin and Assistant Loco Master Opu Dey, said Additional District Magistrate and Chief of the Probe Committee Mitu Mariam.
The committee has sent letter to the concerned department of Bangladesh Railway to help them contact the alleged involved persons in the accident, she added.
The station master is in Chattogram to face the Bangladesh Railway's Chattogram division probe committee while the loco master and assistant loco master are absconding.
Mariam also said they cannot reach any of them. They did not find the log-sheet of the station master on the accident spot.
On Friday, Bangladesh Railway submitted their probe report.
On November 12, Chattogram-bound Udayan Express from Sylhet and Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita from Chattogram collided at the Mondobagh Railway Station in Kasba upazila under Brahmanbaria district, leaving 16 passengers dead and 100 injured.
