The fire service on Friday found the body of missing engineer Mahfuzur Rahman Zisan from the Dhaleshwari river in Munshiganj.

Zisan – who was an employee of the Bangla Cat company – went missing in Fatullah area of Narayanganj five days ago, along with his colleague Likhan Sarkar. Likhan is still missing.

BSCIC fire service station's Senior Officer Kajal Mia said, "A team of divers conducted drives at different points of Buriganga and Dhaleshwari rivers for two missing engineers on Friday. Zisan's submerged body was found in the Sirajdikhan area of the Dhaleshwari river.

"The victim's relatives later identified his body."

Zisan's older brother Shoaib Ahmed told The Business Standard, "We found that the body has been mutilated. His body was showing signs bleeding from the mouth and the eviscerated belly. Zisan was murdered in cold blood."

His cousin Samrat said that Zisan was a resident of Ashulia and left behind his wife and two children aged three years and three months.

Fatullah model police station Officer-in-Charge Aslam Hossain said, "Zisan's body has been sent for autopsy. Fire service will continue their search for another missing engineer Likhan."

Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy director of the Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defense, said, "We received information about Zisan and Likhan, two days after they went missing. Zisan's body was found after three days of drive."

On January 5, the duo went missing while on their way home from Rajapur area of Fatullah. Zisan's wife later filed a general diary with the Ashulia police station over the incident.
