Bhutanese PM phones Sheikh Hasina, extends Eid greetings

The Bangladesh prime minister thanked her Bhutanese counterpart for making the phone and expressing sympathy over the damages caused by the Amphan

Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering today called his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina over the phone and extended greetings to her on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims.

"The Bhutanese premier phoned the Bangladesh prime minister around 7:55pm and extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to her (Sheikh Hasina) and the people of Bangladesh," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told media.

During the 15-minutes conversation, the Bangladesh premier also extended her greetings to Lotay Tshering and the Bhutanese people on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, he said.

The press secretary said the Bhutanese premier enquired about the damages caused by super cyclone Amphan and expressed sympathy over the loss of life and property due to the cyclone.

The issue related to the ongoing coronavirus situation also came up for discussion between the two leaders, Karim said.
