Voluntary organisation 'Bhalobasi Jamalpur', on Wednesday, distributed relief among 150 flood-affected families of five villages under Chinaduli Union of Jamalpur's Islampur Upazila.

"Our relief materials include rice, pulse, flattened rice, salt, oil, potato, soap, saline etc. The families should be able to live off these reliefs for the next seven days," Sozib Mia. founder of 'Bhalobashi Jamalpur' said.

The organisation is aimed at distributing relief among at least 300 families. This is the first phase of relief distribution. The 2nd phase will be distributed in Dewanganj Upazilla.

Due to the increase of water-level in Jamuna river, Chinaduli union has become a separated char from Jamalpur district. People are facing huge scarcity of food, pure drinking water and other necessary facilities.

"We are suffering a lot due to the flood. My husband is sick. We asked relief from the government but didn't get any response yet," Jobeda Begum, a 50-years-old woman waterlogged for almost a month with her sick husband, said.

Char Nandan Para's resident Shamsu Ali, 38, claimed that they also didn't get any relief yet. This is the very first relief they received from an organisation.

Bhalobashi Jamalpur is a youth-based organisation of Jamalpur district. They are well known for creative and voluntary works. They have received many prestigious awards, including Joy Bangla Youth Award in 2018.
