BCL activist killed in Chattogram

An activist of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was killed in an attack by miscreants in Arefin Nagar area under Bayazid Bostami police station in Chattogram on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Emon Rony, 25, son of Nur Qasem of Muktijoddha Colony of the area and a follower of Chittagong Polytechnic Institute BCL leader Md Ashraf.

Bayazid Police Station Officer-in-Charge Priton Sarkar said, "A man named Emon was killed in the clash between two groups. Police are collecting information and action will be taken based on them."

Witnesses said that when Emon was gossiping with his friends at a tea stall, a group of 30-40 people attacked him.

They stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

BCL leaders and activists staged a protest in front of the emergency department of the hospital at around 11 pm demanding punishment of the killers.
