The 19 members of the Female Engagement Team received the letter for their work in South Sudan under the UN’s peacekeeping mission

In recognition of the expeditionary and social work activities in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), women peacekeepers of the Bangladesh Army have received a letter of commendation from the UNMISS Force Commander.

The 19 Female Engagement Team (FET) members attached with Bangladeshi Battalion (BANBATT) 3 for UNMISS received the "Force Commander's Commendation" letter for their exceptional dedication, professionalism, exemplary military ethos, and devotion to duty during their tour.

As a part of their tour, the FET members took part in several interactive sessions with the local women. They also participated in various friendly competitions with the locals. The members of the female engagement team were also involved in an exclusive task group dealing with specific female related issues.

Earlier in January 2019, Bangladesh Army initiated the inclusion of the Female Engagement Team (FET) in the Battalion to enhance the total process of peacekeeping and peacebuilding in the conflicted areas.
