Bangladeshi cop on UN mission dies in Mali

A Bangladeshi policeman passed away early Tuesday Bangladesh time after sudden illness in Mali where he had been serving for the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission.

Constable Md Omar Faruk had been working in UN’s Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police Sohel Rana told The Business Standard.

“He suddenly fell ill and was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Bamako. He died around 8:30pm local time [2:30am Bangladesh time],” Sohel Rana added.

Faruk’s body has been kept at the hospital’s mortuary in Mali.
