Bangladesh Navy to manufacture warships soon: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the government has taken many projects through which Bangladesh Navy will be able to be a commercial manufacturer of warships in the days to come. 

She said, "This in turn, will help the homegrown technologies flourish, through which we may earn foreign currency. It will eventually create employment and make the country a self-reliant nation." 

The prime minister was addressing the President Parade 2019 of the Passing Out Cadets of "Midshipment-2017 alpha' and 'Direct Entry Officer 2019 bravo" courses arranged by the Bangladesh Naval Academy in Chattogram. 

The PM further said her government has been working relentlessly to transform the Navy into a technology-driven efficient force. 

Besides, with a view to developing training facilities and living standards, 22 multi-storied buildings in different naval areas and a Navy Township project in Savar have been inaugurated, she added. 

The premier said the Navy is working in various sectors, including constructing accommodation for displaced Rohingyas, and expanding country's blue economy.
