Bangabandhu Lecture Series to begin at DU Monday

Dhaka University (DU) will begin its Bangabandhu Lecture Series on Monday, marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.  

DU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will inaugurate the lecture series around 4pm at Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury's Virtual Classroom, adjacent to the VC's office, read a press release.

The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee's Chief Coordinator Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury will deliver a keynote speech at the inaugural lecture.

The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Research Institute for Peace and Liberty and the Center for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Sciences (CARASS) of the university jointly initiated the programme.

"At least one lecture will be delivered at each programme and the lecture series will continue till the end of Mujib Borsho," said Mahmood Alam, director of the public relations office at DU.  

University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Professor Kazi Shahidullah will connect with the event virtually with CARASS' Chairman Professor Dr Atiur Rahman in the chair.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Research Institute for Peace and Liberty's Director Fakrul Alam will deliver the welcome speech while CARASS' Director Professor Dr Abdul Basir will deliver the concluding speech.
