Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games rescheduled to April

The ninth edition of Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games, which was postponed last year for Covid-19 outbreak, will be held from 1 to 10 April this year.
The decision was taken on Saturday in the first meeting of the executive committee of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) chaired by its President General Aziz Ahmed, reads an ISPR press release.
The games were originally scheduled to be held in April 2020, marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. But the games were deferred amid the pandemic.
At the meeting held at Kurmitola Golf Club, it was decided to hold the games in both the capital and divisional cities.
Some 8,500 athletes including team and technical officials will participate in the games.
It further discussed Bangladesh's participation in 13 disciplines in the fifth Islamic Solidarity Games happening in September this year in Turkey.
Meanwhile, the meeting also decided to send athletes in 17 disciplines including football and cricket to the 19th Asian Games, to be held in September next year in Hangzhou, China.
