“We have been trying to trace him through our technologies since the incident and finally arrested him yesterday.”

The prime accused in the murder of Khadem of Mayor Mohammad Hanif Jame Mosque was arrested from Chattagarm on Monday.

The detainee Saiful Islam, 38, was hiding at his aunt’s home in Aagrabad of the port city, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) said in press briefing on Tuesday.

“We have been trying to trace him through our technologies since the incident and finally arrested him yesterday,” said Monoj Kumar Majumder, Deputy Inspector General and Chief of PBI.

Saiful was another Khadem of the same mosque where slain Abu Hanif used to work.

“Saiful killed him out of professional rivalry”, Monoj Kumar added.  “He grew jealous that Hanif was appointed as main Khadem and was gaining all the responsibilities”

Abu Hanif, the main Khadem (caretaker of mosque) was found dead and stuffed in a sack with stab wound in his belly on July 3 from the second floor of the mosque complex.
