Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam today said if reelected he would make his utmost efforts to make the capital a smart city.

Seeking people's support in this regard, he said, "If reelected, I would build a clean and modern green city."

He was speaking to media after the announcement of his candidature for the DNCC Mayoral post in the January 30 election at the AL president's political office at Dhanmondi.

"I did not waste any time after getting the responsibility of the DNCC mayor nine months ago… I had faced many challenges to carry out welfare-oriented activities in my area, and still I'm ready to face any difficulty to present a smart and green city," he added.

Meanwhile, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh got the nomination for the Dhaka South North City Corporation (DNCC) mayoral post.
