An eight-member delegation from Assam, including five members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) led by the Assam Minister of State Pijush Hazarika, visited the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The delegation arrived on Monday from Guwahati by the maiden Spicejet flight under the scheme of enhancing regional air connectivity between the northeastern states of India and Bangladesh.

The delegation was welcomed by the acting high commissioner Bishwadip Dey and senior officials of Spicejet at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The members of the delegation on their two-day visit had a fruitful discussion with the officials of the High Commission on how to promote people-to-people relations between India and Bangladesh. They also discussed the issue of promoting tourism from Bangladesh to Assam.

The delegation left Dhaka on Wednesday.
