During the meeting, they exchanged greetings and discussed various issues regarding the existing good relations between the two country's armed forces and their mutual cooperation in the future, said a press release from ISPR.

Their talks focused on conducting joint training, exchanging expertise on defence, mutual defence cooperation, goodwill visits and providing medical assistance to combat the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

A five-member Maldivian defence forces delegation led by Major General Abdulla Shamaal arrived in Dhaka on 31 March on a seven-day state visit.

After the visit, the delegation will return to the Maldives on 6 April.
