Anamul Haque alias Arman has been for a long time the closest cohort of the casino kingpin Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat.
Arman, the vice president of Dhaka South City Jubo League, was arrested along with Samrat from Cumilla border earlier today, and now in the police custody.
He looked after the casino empire of Samrat and was the door to reach the casino kingpin.
According to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) information, Arman was accompanying Samrat from September 28. He was all along with him even while planning to flee the country through the Cumilla border.
Samrat had no car of his own as he sold his Prado car. He had been using Arman's Harrier car for one year, the RAB intelligence sources said.
A student of Feni Government College, Arman came to Dhaka in the early nineties. He was a trader of electronic goods in the Baitul Mukarram area in his early days in Dhaka.
During the BNP rule, he got involved in the gambling racket of the Motijheel clubs.
In 2013, he confirmed the post of Dhaka South City Jubo League vice president and established himself as one of the powerful controllers of illegal casino business of Samrat.
Under Samrat's patronage, he took over control of the casinos and gambling business in the area.
Arman mainly controlled the Mohammedan Sporting Club and Dilkusha Sporting Club in the capital.
Arman arranged all sorts of parties for Samrat and his special guests.
There are also allegations that he amassed massive amounts of wealth through extortion and tender manipulations.
