Ariful Islam appointed as Bangladesh HC to Sri Lanka
At the headquarters, he worked in various capacities in different Wings including as the Director-General of South Asia Wing
The Government has decided to appoint Mr Tareq Md Ariful Islam as the next High Commissioner (HC) of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka.
The matter was confirmed by a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
Mr Ariful Islam is currently serving as Deputy Permanent Representative in the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York.
High Commissioner-designate Mr Islam is a career foreign service officer belonging to 17th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre.
In his distinguished diplomatic career, Mr Islam had earlier served in the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York and in the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, India in various capacities.
At the headquarters, he worked in various capacities in different Wings including as the Director-General of South Asia Wing.
Mr Tareq Md Ariful Islam obtained his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka and Master's degree in Diplomacy and Trade from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.
