Public offices tell HC that the round the clock security would continue as instructed

Government offices in a report to the High Court said the security of the sculptures and murals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been ensured across the country.

The public offices also said that the round the clock security would continue as instructed by the HC.

Deputy Attorney General ABM Abdullah-Al Mahmud Bashar told the press Tuesday that a report on behalf of the housing and public works ministry, home ministry, cabinet division, and police chief has been submitted to the HC.

The report says there are 1,220 murals of Bangabandhu across the country, while 19 are under construction. The security measures include regular patrols by the law enforcers, installing closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, and deployment of intelligence personnel.

Earlier on 7 December, while hearing a writ petition, an HC bench of FRM NazmulAhasan and Justice ShahedNuruddin directed the government agencies to provide security to monuments of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The cabinet division secretary, home secretary, and others concerned were asked to submit the report within a month.
