AL had no contribution to Language Movement: BNP leader Alal

BNP joint secretary general Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal on Friday said the Awami League had no contribution to the language movement.
He was speaking as the keynote speaker at a discussion at the capital's Press Club organised by Democracy Revival Action Council (Ganatantro Punoruddhar Sangram Parisad).
"In what is called the bud of Bangladesh's independence, there were Tamaddun Majlish, Principal Abul Kashem, Ahmed Rafiq, Kazi Golam Mahbub, Language Movement activists Matin, Professor Golam Azam who were later condemned for their political activities, "said BNP leader Alal.
"Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was then in Faridpur Jail. He was released on 26/27 February," he said.
He further said that 'Haq Katha' and 'Ganakantha' were stopped by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Democracy and Awami League have never worked together and will never work together.
Alal pointed out the government calls Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur VC Kalimullah a thief while he calls the education minister a thief, adding, "Sayeed Khokon calls Mayor Taposh a thief and he calls Sayeed Khokon a thief."
"These battles are democracy in the eyes of the Awami League. They are busy fighting among themselves all over the country," added Alal.
