AL candidate Shafiul Islam could not vote for EVM error

Awami League candidate to Dhaka-10 constituency by-election, Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, waited for more than an hour at the voting centre, but could not cast his vote due to technical problem with the electronic voting machine (EVM).

He entered the polling centre at Lake Circus Girls' School in Kalabagan at 10am on Saturday and waited till 11:15am.

Then the Awami League candidate came out of the centre and told reporters, "I could not vote for technical reasons. I'll vote later."

According to the source, he was first identified from the photo list but the complications came when his finger print did not match. Later, his voter ID card was brought. Which did not work. The machine was turned off and turned on again. Election officials tried with another card he had. Then an attempt was made to wipe the finger with tissue. That didn't work either. They tried it on another machine, but he couldn't vote.

Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin was a voter in Uttara. He migrated to Dhanmondi for the election. However, the presiding officer said the migration process was not done properly.
