Akhaura port opens after Eid vacation
Export activities through the Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria have resumed today after a six-day Eid-ul-Adha vacation.
"The port activities began with exporting goods to India. The export activities have been normal since Wednesday morning," said Md Rajib Uddin Bhuiyan, joint general secretary of Akhaura Land Port Import-Export Association.
However, to contain the spread of Covid-19, passengers' movement to India through Akhaura International Immigration Checkpost has been suspended since March 12.
Akhaura land port is one of the largest ports in the country. Every day, various goods are exported from Bangladesh to seven Indian states known as the Seven Sisters through this port.
