ACC sues former RHD engineer for illegal assets worth Tk3.9cr

ACC deputy director filed the cases with the ACC integrated district office in Dhaka-1 on Thursday

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against former additional chief engineer of Roads and Highways Department (RHD) Md Jawed Alam and his wife Anwara Begum for acquiring assets worth Tk3.9 crore without any legal source.  

Md Nasir Uddin, ACC deputy director, filed the cases with the ACC integrated district office in Dhaka-1 on Thursday.

ACC Director Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

According to the first case statement, Md Jawed Alam accumulated immovable and movable assets worth more than Tk84 lakh, which was not in line with the known sources of his income.

In another case, Md Jawed Alam and his wife Anwara Begum have been accused for illegally amassing assets worth Tk2.24 crore outside their known sources of income.
