The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday decided to file a case against Md Abdus Salam, former chief engineer of the then undivided Dhaka City Corporation (DCC), and his wife Reshma Mojumdar over illegally amassing around Tk 5 crore.

The ACC Secretary Md Dilwar Bakht announced the decision following a meeting, adding that the graft watchdog’s Assistant Director Mujibur Rahman will file the case soon.

“Initially, we have found that ex-chief engineer of the then DCC Md Abdus Salam illegally amassed around Tk 3.7 crore Tk. He also deposited Tk 1.34 crore in his wife’s bank account, which was also amassed illegally,” the ACC secretary told the media.

“A case will also be filed against his wife because she helped him hide the illegally amassed money,” he added.
