Abu Hena joins as defence secretary

Dr Md Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal started office as the secretary of the defence ministry on Tuesday.

Additional secretaries of the ministry – Selina Haque, Dr Md Mahmud-ul-Haque, Md Shafiqul Ahmad – and Joint Secretary (Works and Development) Brigadier General Md Mahfuz Alam greeted him at the office.

Later, Dr Abu Hena attended an introductory meeting with officials of different levels at the conference room of the ministry following health guidelines, reads a press release.

Before joining the ministry, he served as the secretary of the cultural affairs ministry.

He is an officer of the seventh batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) administration cadre.

In his long career, Dr Abu Hena has served in different capacities including at the Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.

He also participated in many bilateral and multilateral meetings at home and abroad as a team leader and member of the Bangladesh delegation.
